Congregants deny knowing Kwacha MP in HH’s presence

There was drama at Kwacha East UCZ Congregation in Kitwe yesterday when congregants denied knowing their area member of parliament Charles Mulenga in the presence of President Hakainde Hichilema.

And President Hichilema has called for unity and love across all the country.

Yesterday when the President and other government and UPND party officials attended the service, Copperbelt Province minister Elisha Matambo stood to introduce the entourage at the congregation.

But when Matambo called Mulenga to greet the people of his constituency they denied knowing him.

“Aba eba MP benu ba Mulenga (This is your MP Mulenga) tamwabeshiba (don’t know him)?” Matambo said.

But the congregants responded that they did not know Mulenga.

“Awee! Awee! Awee! (No! No! No!),” they responded.

Matambo asked Mulenga to look at the people and said he had heard the people’s response.

When Matambo introduced other government and party officials, the congregants clapped in jubilation.

Meanwhile, President Hichilema said the country could achieve a lot when citizens had love for each other.

“We need to remain united as country, we need to understand that with unity we can achieve a lot. So tufwile twachita unite, Lesa musuma sana (God is so good),” he said.

The President said his government would work for the people of Zambia and deliver development across the Country.

“Ifwe inchito yesu kubombela abantu bonse (our role is to work for the people of Zambia),” he said.

The President donated K700,000 for the completion of the construction project of the church building at UCZ Kwacha East Congregation and another K500,000 to UCZ Mindolo congregation.

He also donated K100,000 to all the five choirs at Kwacha East Congregation.

The President was on the Copperbelt for a two-day working visit.
