Former deputy Inspector General of Police Solomon Jere has warned criminals and indiscipline police officers to watch out following the appointment of Graphel Musamba as the new Inspector General of Police and Alita Mbahwe as his deputy.
President Hichilema today fired Lemmy Kajoba and his deputy Dorris Nayame Chibomba, and replaced them with Musamba and Mbahwe.
And President Hakainde Hichilema has terminated contracts of four permanent secretaries whose names are Wisdom Bwalya, Perpetual Mpande Chuulu, Danny Mfune and John Msimuko while placing Health PS Professor Lackson Kasonka and Chilufya Darko on redeployment.
Jere, who is also former High Commissioner to Nigeria, said Musamba was an excellent appointment.
“Excellent choice. Very mature, very sharp. That one you can’t make mistakes. He’s a very good stable officer. He’s our former commissioner of police. At that time there was no deputy commissioner of police. There was IG and commissioner of police … Apa bamenya apa. It’s a wonderful choice,” Jere said. “And that Alita Mbahwe, she’s one of the best administrators we have. She came from police to DEC. She’s a very good administrator. The police will continue improving now.”
Jere said the appointed officers know their job.
“And I think now even criminals they should watch out. Even indiscipline cops should sit up now,” said Jere.
