Don’t expect our help as you eat yourselves up, Nalumango tells PF

Vice-President Mutale Nalumango says the loss of nine seats by the PF in Parliament is the party’s own making.

Speaking during the Vice-President’s question time, Nalumango said UPND was not the architect of the looming by-elections in the nine Constituencies.

The Vice-President was responding to a question from Mpika-Central constituency member of parliament Francis Kapyanga who wanted to know why the government had proceeded to create nine by-elections when, a total amount of K200 million would be spent amidst the country’s economic challenges.

“For a former member to say we are struggling with fiscal space, yes we are, but this is not our creation. And you are talking about project not being completed, we did not pronounce that from now we have stopped completing projects that are below 80 percent, you pronounced it yourself. We said we will complete the projects slowly as we go on and it is happening,” she said. “Who expelled, did we expel people from here? Come on, this is a serious matter for me, people voted for you and you come here to play games. Today the President is this one, he is expelled, tomorrow there is another one. Please understand some of us, it’s very painful.”

She said the PF was irritating Zambians.

“Stop what you are doing,  and be serious,” she said.

“You are like an insect which eats itself. You are eating yourselves and we are watching and you think we can help you, no. The PF is eating itself and they expect us who are competitors to go and help them. Eat yourselves, you have let the Zambian people down.”

She said the President had pronounced that he did not want by-elections.

Nalumango said the government continues to struggle but had improved the fiscal space.

“That is why we have Constituency Development Funds today which is coming from the prudent expenditure of our resources. You also talked about exporting power, that is fiscal power. Did you honestly say we are creating by-elections which will be costly?”

Last Wednesday, second Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly Moses Moyo nullified the nine parliamentary seats after the Constitutional Court dismissed their case to challenge their expulsion from the party.

Those affected are Ronald Chitotela (Pambashe), Christopher Kangombe (Kamfinsa), Nickson Chilangwa (Kawambwa) and Remember Mutale (Chatampo).

Others are Brian Mundubile  (Mporokoso), Stephen Kampyongo (Shiwangandu), Mpakata Musonda (Lupososhi), Mulenga Fube (Chilubi) and Mutotwe Kafwaya( Lunte).
