Excessive speeding has cost the life of a 44-year old man of Lusaka’s Garden House, after he suffered fatal head injuries when the vehicle he was driving lost control.
Police spokesperson Rae Hamoonga stated that Given Lumai died from a road traffic accident at Six Miles Roundabout in Kabangwe along Great North Road.
Hamoonga stated that the deceased suffered fatal head injuries after the vehicle he was driving lost control from excessive speeding.
“Kabangwe Police Traffic recorded a road traffic accident that occurred today February 6, 2024, around 07 :00 hrs at Six Miles Roundabout in Kabangwe along the Great North Road. The incident involved a Toyota Hiace with registration number BAX1239. The vehicle sustained significant damage, including a shattered windscreen, grazed right side body and a damaged driver’s door. The driver identified as Mr. Given Lumai, aged 44 ,residing in Garden House, Lusaka, suffered fatal head injuries and unfortunately succumbed upon arrival at Chingwere Level One Hospital. The deceased body has been deposited in the mortuary, pending postmortem examination,’’ stated Hamoonga.‘’ preliminary investigations indicate that the accident occurred as Mr. Lumai, travelling from North to South, lost control of the vehicle due to excessive speed. The vehicle subsequently collided with the drainage and collided with iron bars.’’
