FAZ president Andrew Kamanga has disclosed that Fashion Sakala’s rift with Chipolopolo Zambia coach Avram Grant has hit a snag due to another factor from his teammates.
A year ago Sakala made allegations against Grant over his not being selected for national duty since Zambia’s elimination from 2024 AFCON.
Kamanga told Hot FM on Tuesday that great progress was made in the reconciliation process between Grant and Sakala but another underlying issue popped up.
“Between the coach and the player, there was almost an agreement in terms of resolving the issue, but then it turned out that, in fact, the issues that had been raised even touched the fellow players,” Kamanga said. “So the fellow players do have a position where they expect their colleague is going to go back to them and make peace with them. So this is the dynamic that is there.”
Kamanga said the issue stemmed from Sakala’s alleged comments last year about players contributions to the team.
“So for instance, comments were made that some of the players that were given attention just score tap-ins, and it didn’t sit well with the team because, you know, football is a team sport,” said Kamanga.
