Zambia and Morocco will meet in the group stages of the 2025 U17 AFCON next month emulating their seniors who will meet at 2025 AFCON later in December.
The two sides knew their fate when draws for the 2025 U17 AFCON were held in Cairo yesterday.
East African nations Tanzania and Uganda complete group A.
Morocco will host the 12-team U17 AFCON from March 30 to April 19 where all the quarterfinalists will qualify for the 2025 FIFA U17 World Cup to be held in Qatar from November 5-27.
The news of Zambia and Morocco’s group stage pairing comes a month after their senior counterparts were also slotted in Group A at the 2025 AFCON that the latter will host from December 21 to January 18.
Meanwhile, Ian Bakala’s team qualified for the 2025 U17 AFCON as zonal champions of the 2024 COSAFA U17 championship when they beat Angola 2-1 in the final in December which also saw the runners-up getting the region’s second representatives.
Zambia’s last outing in Algeria saw them finish bottom of Group B with 3 points, in which eventual runners-up Morocco won on 6 points tied with Nigeria, while South Africa finished third on 3 points.
The Junior Chipolopolo are going for only their third U17 AFCON but have never made it out of the preliminary stages.
