A 15-year old girl of Mkushi district has committed suicide after failing to make it to grade 10.
Police sources have confirmed the incidence and identified the deceased as Melody of Masansa area.
Police sources disclosed that the incident happened on January 10, 2024 around 17:30 hours.
“The girl took some poisonous substance commonly known as doom after realizing that the results she got cannot make her progress to grade 10. She failed to come to terms with the reality that she will not go to grade 10,” said the source. “The mother to the deceased pupil only discovered that the girl was lying unconscious on her bed in the bedroom. She was rushed to Masansa health centre where she was pronounced dead.”
The source further explained that the body of the deceased has been deposited in Masansa health centre, awaiting postmortem and burial.
