Father Godwin Mulenga, the presiding Bishop for St Ignatius Parish, has urged the entire PF leadership to go back to the people and apologise more for the wrongs they committed during their reign.
And Fr Mulenga decried a situation where people have continued serving in an acting capacity under the UPND administration, wondering why they are not being appointed substantively, saying it’s time to honor Zambians regardless the language they speak.
Speaking during a well attended memorial ceremony in honour of the late president Michael Sata, mostly attended by PF members, whose leaders and the late president’s family members dismissed assertions that they had stopped UPND members and others from attending the event, Fr Mulenga simoutenously took swipes while praising the PF, and also attacked the UPND administration including inserting Seer 1’s name in his talking.
Fr Mulenga said the PF were blessed because they still had the support of the people, asking them to emulate president Sata whose heart was inclined towards the people.
He said Sata’s successor, Edgar Lungu, did a great job only that “abantu tabatasha” and that they only show gratefulness when one is dead.
But he said they committed a lot of mistakes too which they needed to continue apologising for, where they allowed their cadres for instance to run riot in markets and bus stations.
He said people were known who have obtained plots in the name of being cadres and sold the same plots to many different people.
Fr Mulenga said President Lungu apologised during last year’s memorial, but they still needed to apologise more.
“Go back and apologise more, the whole PF leadership. Go back and tell them we are sorry, please forgive us for the wrongs we committed,” Fr Mulenga urged.
Turning towards the the UPND administration, the Fr said many innocent people have been fired just because they served in the previous administration and “for no reason except that they don’t speak their language.”
He said there were people at Cabinet who have been acting since the UPND came into office, but that it was time to honor all Zambians and that the media must speak out on such injustices.
Fr Mulenga also wondered why president Lungu and Republican President Hakainde Hichilema have not sat down to discuss issues as brothers as they are the only two remaining people to have held the highest office.
But acting PF secretary general Nixon Chilangwa when called upon to invite president Lungu to the podium, said the answer on why the two leaders could not meet was found in the holy Bible’s 1 Peter 2:1, which he said talks about deceit and lying.
He said anybody who went to power through deceit and lying will always lie, saying light and darkness could therefore not meet.
“One gentleman who lives somewhere in Shantumbu must stop lying,” said Chilangwa.
And acting PF president Given Lubinda who spoke on behalf of president Lungu said the PF have proved that “the good green ghost shall not die.”
“The ghost shall make them bafimbe bapoke,” said Lubinda.
