The organiser of the 2025 Zambia Open Golf Championship in Kitwe is nearing their US$300,000.00 target corporate sponsorship for this year’s event to be held at Nkana Golf Club in Kitwe from June 5-8.
Zambia’s biggest premier international sporting event returns to Nkana for a second successive year in the post-COVID era.
2025 Zambia Open Golf Championship organiSing committee chairperson Phil Harrold said at yesterday’s press briefing that they were well on their way to meeting the pledges from their sponsors by today’s deadline.
“We are looking at around meeting our US$300,000.00 target but we will be happy to get to US$350,000.00 but we understand that the current economic climate is not that great,” Harrold said.
“But we are really grateful to get to US $300,000.00 it will be really good.”
The sum is on top of main sponsor Mopani Copper Mines who have pumped in US$150,000.00 and whose name will headline the Zambia Open.
The tournament will start with two pro-am events on Tuesday and Wednesday before the main event from Thursday to Sunday.
South African MJ Viljoen is the defending champion after winning it at the same venue last year.
And ZANACO has come on board as a partner sponsor for one of the two sides a AA A
ZANACO will host the first Pro AM on June 3 in which it has pumped US$13,000.00.
And IES who are one of the Gold Sponsors of the tournament have pumped in US$16,000.00.

said at the presentation yesterday that Zanaco was committed to its long-term relationship with golf.
The final Pro-Am on June 4 will be sponsored by Barloworld.
