Vice-President Mutale Nalumango says government jobs are limited, emphasising the importance of private sector involvement in job creation.
Speaking at the Public Private Dialogue Forum (DPPF) Sector re-run meeting held at Mulungushi International Conference Center in Lusaka, Nalumango said the government’s role was to create an environment conducive for job creation in the private sector, which offered more employment opportunities.
She highlighted the existence of laws and regulations implemented by the government in collaboration with private sector organisations to facilitate this process.
“The government’s desire is to increase recruitment in the health and education sectors, but private sector involvement is crucial,” Nalumango said. “The private sector offers more employment opportunities and it’s essential we work together to create an environment that fosters job creation.”
Nalumango said her emphasis on private sector involvement was not new, noting that she had consistently highlighted the importance of collaboration between the government and private sector.
The Vice-President said the government’s efforts to promote private sector growth were also evident in its initiatives to support small and medium-scale enterprises.
She further emphasised the importance of building capacity and promoting investment in enterprises to drive economic growth.
“The private sector is key to creating employment opportunities and driving economic growth,” Nalumango reiterated. “We must work together to create an environment that fosters job creation and economic growth.”
The Vice-President made the remarks as the Private Public Dialogue Forum commemorated the private sector job creation campaign.
