Govt won’t show off help to Dandy Krazy’s family – Nkandu

By Mubanga Mubanga

Youth and Sports Minister Elvis Nkandu says government will not reveal what it intends to do for the family of late musician Dandy Krazy, as it will be tantamount to showing off.

Speaking during the funeral of Dandy Krazy at the showgrounds this morning, Nkandu said the government already had a discussion with the widow of Chibambo on the way forward but he did not want to preempt anything

“And l will start by just answering to some of the challenges posed through Pastor BJ Ngosa. I was sitting there and listening to the pastor, he made a very good plea. But l want to say that, Bflow and the widow knows what we have discussed, and l don’t want to preempt anything as government, because we know that the tradition demands when you give especially to those that are bereaved, let those who are bereaved acknowledge what you have done,” Nkandu said. “We don’t want the social media to take anything that the government did this, and that, because that will be tantamount to showing off. Government will not show off, we are going to do the needful. We have already discussed it with the widow, and Bflow is the witness.”

Nkandu further warned Zambians against posting on social media after donating something at the funeral, because the Bible taught that if one gave with one hand, the other hand should not know.

“So for us as government we know Dandy Krazy has left the wife, and also children. And we are going make sure after the funeral we sit down and (see) how best government can intervene, to make sure the lives of children to some extent will not be so difficult,” Nkandu said.

And PF vice-president Given Lubinda said Chibambo touched many lives through his songs.

“However, in as much as Dandy sung songs for the PF, he also sung songs for Zambians. Even when he met his tragic accident, King Dandy was on his way to perform and sing for Zambians. King Dandy touched many lives, this is the reason why his funeral has been graced by government officials on behalf of all Zambian people,” Lubinda said.

The opposition leader in apparent reference to the UPND said the people who attacked Chibambo at heroes stadium some months ago were also present to mourn him.

“Notwithstanding the fact that he was attacked at the Heroes Stadium not too long ago. The people who have turned out here, to bidding farewell are much more than those that attacked him,” Lubinda said.

“I have no doubt in my mind that even people who sponsored the ones that attacked him, even the ones who attacked him are here today mourning King Dandy.”

Thousands of Lusaka residents thronged the Showgrounds to bid farewell to Dandy Krazy.

Police had a tough time controlling the jubilant mourners.

The Showgrounds was filled to capacity, with almost all the big artistes attending attended the burial processions, among them, Chef 187, Yo maps , Macky2 , Bobby East, Bflow, among other artists.

Dandy Krazy left behind a wife with five children and one grandchild.
