HH IS TOO CLEAN, HE THINKS ZAMBIANS WILL GIVE HIM DISEASES, CHARGES NAWAKWI

Hakainde Hichilema feels he is too clean and Zambians will give him diseases if he draws closer to them, opposition FDD leader Edith Nawakwi has charged.

And Nawakwi said Zambians will soon to forking our millions to pay 34 police officers who have been fired by President Hakainde Hichilema to be replaced by he has called out of retirement.

Speaking with Daily Revelation, Nawakwi described the investiture ceremony as the heart of a president, saying a presidential insignia was a heartfelt gift from the President to the recipient, but that a President could not stand on the podium and have his assistant handing over the insignia to those awarded.

she said she would have loved for instance to see veteran journalist Frank Mutubila and the other recipients receive their gifts from the presidential hand.

“What is it that we have as Zambians to have a presidency that is so detached from our heart? Since independence, even under Welensky, an insignia, a gift, a medal is pinned on the soldier because these medals signify the heart of a Commander-In-Chief,” Nawakwi said, saying her greatest disappointment today was not even the UPND dress up and their choreography. “It’s like if he just puts that medal on the recipients he will get a disease or something. And this kind of life is what has separated him from the people. He is too aloof, too clean, too detached. He can’t shake your hand. And my heart died when I saw my brother on the wheel chair there literally beckoning him to a greeting. And you know he was forced to leave and go and shake his hands. Which shouldn’t be the case.”

Nawakwi further said she has never seen such kind of detachment where one could just think of standing on the podium and grin and then have someone getting a medal to give those awarded.

“This is a new dawn thing where he’s so aloof, that he can get diseased if you shake hands with him,” she said.

Nawakwi further said if the theme of the celebrations had an element of inclusiveness, she expected to see not just the presence of one party doing performances and poems for the leader, neither having a situation where one is invited for the event at State House and then the next day they are delivering defamation letters against her.

She said she is being accused of defaming the person who was said to be the last person to have custody of the Hatembos, and were demanding millions from her, arguing that one could not promote unity by living in the past.

Nawakwi charged that even when providing services through government programmes like the CEC, those in government were perusing to see who was connected to which politician or individual.

She further wondered how President Hichilema could achieve unity when “he has gone into the national archives of retirees and unearthed policemen who were trained in colonial tactics and put them in charge of young men and women who have been trained in the ICT era.”

“When will you include that young man at Central police who is now trained in modern methods of policing in the leadership?” Nawakwi asked.

She said there will be a huge fallout in the police where she said regulations were not followed in terminating contracts for the 34 police officers, as police officers were employed under permanent and pensionable conditions of service.
