President Hakainde Hichilema has pledged to complete all unfinished hostels at the University of Zambia, in addressing the long-standing accommodation and sanitation challenges faced by students.
The President said so after he was conferred with an honorary Doctorate of Business Administration by UNZA, in recognition of his contribution to humanity and business administration in Zambia and beyond.
Speaking at the convocation ceremony, President Hichilema said, “I have issued a directive that all the unfinished hostels at the University of Zambia should be completed. We are aware of the challenges and are committed to addressing them.”
University of Zambia Vice Chancellor, Professor Mundia Muya, commended the President’s commitment.
“President Hichilema’s commitment to inclusive development and entrepreneurship is inspiring and worthy of recognition. His dedication to improving the lives of students is evident in his efforts to address the accommodation and sanitation challenges at UNZA,” he said.
UNZASU president Vincent Musilikani expressed gratitude to the President.
“We are confident that with your support, we can surmount these challenges together. The President’s commitment to completing the hostels and increasing funding for higher education is a testament to his dedication to improving the lives of students. We are confident that with his support, we can overcome the challenges facing our university and build a brighter future for Zambian education,” said Musilikani.
