HOMOSEXUALS CAUGHT COUNTRY UNAWARE, SAYS CHUSHI

Information and Media minister Chushi Kasanda says the march past over the weekend by homosexuals came as a shock to both the government and the Zambian public.

Speaking with Daily Revelation, Kasanda said the application made on February 23, 2023 was to conduct a march past at the Showgrounds on March 04, 2023 to raise awareness about women and girls sexual issuesand gender based violence, saying there was nothing talking about homosexuality in the permit that was granted by police.

She said it therefore came as a shock to the administration that the attitudes exhibited during the march past were of a different agenda to what was applied for, insisting that homosexuality is against the laws of the country, something she said the organisers of the protest were aware of.

Kasanda said homosexuality was prohibited as it is a crime, saying it was just a deliberate move by the people who were involved, adding that there was no sacred cow when it comes to the law.

“Anybody who is found wanting will face the law … this is not because we have followed the western values. We have got our own values as a country. The values we have as a country are values the new dawn wants to follow,” said Kasanda. “No Zambian can condone that, whether it’s Chishimba Kambwili, whether it’s Edith Nawakwi, whether it’s Chushi Kasanda. Nobody can allow that and this is not the first time we have put our foot down.”
