Recently resigned PF chairperson for Kabwata, Trevor Ng’andu, popularly known as uncle T, says he finds Dr Fred M’membe’s Socialist Party (SP) and Sean Tembo’s PeP more appealing, despite being approached also by the ruling UPND.
Speaking with Daily Revelation, Ng’andu said he could not cross over from the PF and join a party which had increased the price of fuel, and thereby making life more unbearable for ordinary Zambians.
“Most appealable? I know both PeP and Socialist Party (SP), these two parties are two parties that I think I have been admiring. Looking at what they have been doing. I follow what Sean Tembo is doing, he’s really keeping the UPND on their feet, the checks and balances,” Ng’andu said responded when asked on information that he was seeking adoption on SP ticket. “And I also follow what Dr M’membe is doing. Yesterday I listened to his interview and watched his interview on TV. I see what he was talking about as well. So you follow also, let me look at their manifestos do they believe in helping the poor?”
Ng’andu said what was important to him above anything else was service to the people.
“But with the UPND look at what is happening right now, they have increased the fuel. So how do I cross from PF again to go to another party that has just increased the fuel?” Ng’andu said. “Different parties have approached me and said this is the kind of caliber that we need in different parties, including the UPND themselves. So me I have just told them look I am still dealing with this issue I can’t make a decision now. You understand? This (PF) is the party I loved and I still love. It’s unfortunate a lot of things have happened in the background.”
Ng’andu insisted that he resigned from the PF because he was asked to do something irregular by the party’s district chairman, saying interviews for candidates ended on December 17, but they told him to interview someone who came in on December 18, 2021.
Ng’andu said he would be able to make a decision by Saturday or Sunday over the many approaches he has received
“The way it was also in PF other members thought this was the right time for me to stand because they know what I do. They know that I am not just supposed to be Constituency chairman,” said Ng’andu. “Looking at what happened in the last elections they said no, no I think we lost because we put the candidate who was not popular.”
