Central provincial UPND chairperson Albert Chifita says he is no longer commenting on politics as he is one of the ambassadors appointed by President Hakainde Hichilema to serve in the Foreign missions.
Chifita confirmed to Daily Revelation that he is now a diplomat, saying the Head of State has appointed 34 Zambians to serve in diplomatic missions in the recent deployment exercise.
“Yes, I am going into diplomatic missions in that capacity. We have already thanked the President for appointments…we are 34 of us,” Chifita said.
Asked what priority areas he would focus on as he takes up his new role in diplomatic missions, Chifita said that he would strive to promote Zambia in all sectors that would ensure that the country’s developmental agenda thrives, saying the UPND administration is in a hurry to execute its party manifesto for the benefit of all Zambians.
Chifita said he can now not be drawn into political discourse.
Chifita, however, said that he would issue a comprehensive statement on all issues raised in the interview before he leave the country.
“I am now civil servant. And so I cannot comment much on the political front. But I will certainly have you available when I will be issuing my statement before taking up this new assignment,” said Chifita.
Prior to his diplomatic appointment, Chifita served as substantive UPND Central Province chairman.
Chifita also worked as general manager at Mulungushi Textiles in Kabwe district, before serving as Solwezi district commissioner during the MMD reign under the leadership of the late Levy Mwanawasa administration.
