UPND secretary general Batuke Imenda says he is unaware that there was violence involving UPND and PF cadres in Kitwe over the long weekend.
Asked for his comment on the violence involving the UPND and Patriot Front cadres in Kitwe when President Hakainde Hichilema visited the Copperbelt Province, and what the leadership in the ruling party were contemplating, as UPND SG and chief executive officer of the party, Imenda said he has not heard that such a thing happened.
Imenda said that he has not been touch with most of the happenings in urban areas, saying he was in the northern part of Zambia where accessibility to internet is a challenge and, therefore, would not be in good position to respond to the issue at hand.
“I have been out of Lusaka and other urban areas for a long time. And because of that, I have not taken time to get acquainted with what is obtaining in most of these urban towns. Currently I am in Serenje and I am likely to be here for some days,” Imenda said. “I usually don’t like to comment on issues. I am not privy to what is happening in those areas. And I would not want to comment on something I am not privy to. So I would request that you send me a video of the violence that you are talking about.”
