Miles Sampa says his faction is waiting for response from the Registrar of Societies to file in new office bearers so that he replaces Edgar Lungu as PF president.

And Sampa says his faction has done what Lungu failed to do two years after he resigned by holding a conference at Mulungushi Conference Centre, which elected him as president.

Addressing supporters at his residence on Leopard Hill Road, Sampa assured his sympathisers that the results of yesterday will stand the test of time until 2026 and cannot be reversed by anybody.

“So we are just waiting for a response from the Registrar of Societies so that we change ownership for the party. The President will change from former president Edgar Lungu to Miles Sampa. Not acting president chakutichakuti (whatever). It will be president Miles Sampa. If you have talk time to waste, you will call hijackers but if you want to talk to the president of the PF, call Miles Sampa,” Sampa said.

He said his faction has done what President Lungu failed to do since he resigned by failing to submit fingerprints unlike him and team.

“The secretary general of the party is Morgan Ng’ona. All new office bearers were doing finger prints to file in as new office bearers and I can confirm that by 10:00 hours today, we have submitted to the registrar of societies the change of office bearers’ for the Patriotic Front. We are just waiting for the final determination since we have already,” he said.

He said it was easy for his members to do finger prints because they have no criminal records or corruption cases.

“Miles Sampa has no criminal case in court. I am innocent. I am as clean as water,” he said

Sampa also extended an an olive branch to those who did not make it on the day the convention was held and those who were supporting other candidates to join.

“Our arms are open for them to work with us,” Sampa said.

Asked if he was going to step down as member of parliament since he is now president of the PF, Sampa said he has no intention of stepping down.

He said he is still youthful and capable of handling both.

Sampa said he will give the leader of the opposition or chief whip to others so that he can concentrate on mobilizing the party.

Asked about an injunction obtained by the other PF faction against him, Sampa said he had not received anything and as far as he was concerned, there was no injunction he had received.

He said he had also obtained a number of injunctions against “hijackers” Given Lubinda and Rapahael Nakachinda to stop them from masquerading as secretary general of the PF.

Further asked why he was not holding the briefing at the secretariat since is PF president, Sampa said, “It is not about the building but the leadership and the people. That’s building does not belong to Miles, or Nakachinda or Lubinda but the people.”

He said for now, he is president of the party until 2026.

Asked to respond to allegations that he had been sponsored by the ruling party to destabilize the PF, Sampa asked if the “hijackers” were being sponsored at the time.

“Tell the hijackers that they were being sponsored. I am not being sponsored. This is my house, what is sponsoring us is the PF constitution,” he said.

Sampa said he did not go into politics to make money or steal money.

“I made my money when I worked in banks. I sponsor myself. PF Constitution and Zambian Constitution are sponsoring us,” he said.

Sampa has called on members not to be intimidated by anyone or some suspension letters he anticipates on some of them.

He also said during the convention, there was a resolution to expel Lubinda and Nakachinda because they don’t like democracy and they don’t want to hold the general conference.
