National Democratic Congress (NDC) secretary general Charles Kabwita says it will be injustice to target Chishimba Kambwili alone and leave out Buumba Malambo, if the case police have summoned him over is bordering on the alleged tribal remarks.
Kabwita told Daily Revelation that he has not seen any favourable response from the police over the matter he reported Kafue mayor (UPND) Malambo on.
“I hope and trust that the police will not only deal with honorable Chishimba Kambwili issue, the alleged tribal remarks. I am hopeful that police command in Lusaka will also respond to my complaint that I filed at Lusaka Central police. And this issue has dragged from January this year, I should think so, and there has never been any favourable response from the police. And I am hopeful that police command are not using UPND lenses to investigate alleged tribal remarks,” Kabwita said. “I say so because Buumba Malambo, the mayor of Kafue has not been called by the police, and the video is still on social media. If police are struggling to find evidence against Malambo then I will say they are using UPND lenses to investigate what they are calling tribal remarks.”
Kabwita said he was not against the police investigating alleged offences, including those involving Kambwili, but he was against selective application of the law, arguing that they were mainly investigating political opponents of the ruling party and that Kambwili was among those.
“And away from politics, Chishimba Kambwili is my uncle, so I am speaking as a relative, as a nephew and as a citizen of Zambia. We are family think that there is selective application of enforcing the so called investigations. Nga Buumba Malambo nilisa mulemuchita investigate (When are you investigating Buumba Malambo)?” asked Kabwita.
