This is security administrative issue, responded Inspector General of Police Lemmy Kajoba when asked to respond to the ongoing debate in the military over what they say as his illegal use of stars meant the military.
There is a raging debate in the military over Police Kajoba’s use of three stars on his official vehicle, as it is considered as illegality for him to do so.
Those in the military argue that what Kajoba is doing has never been done in the country since independence, particularly that the police service he is heading is civil and not military in nature.
“The Stars go with military rank from Brigadier General to Field Marshall. There is no police equivalence, unless a military General is seconded to command position in the police or the police service is part of the Defence Force or in jurisdiction where the police force is structured as such, especially former Soviet states,” One military official argued. “Otherwise this is a dangerous illegality which has never happened before since before independence.”
Reached for comment by Daily Revelation, Kajoba in his brief response simply responded: “No comment because this is security administrative issues.”
