Economic Front (EF) leader Wynter Kabimba is wondering why Zambians always want to politicise non-issues instead of just complying with the rules.
Speaking with Daily Revelation, Kabimba said his own party has made all the necessary submissions with the Registrar of Societies in accordance with the circular letter they received which said that parties were to submit registers of their branches across the country, based on the constitutional provision that a political party must have a national presence.
“We didn’t have a problem with that ourselves. We compiled a thick document and submitted that document under a covering letter. So I don’t see why it should be a problem for a political party with 58 members of parliament. So it could be just a weakness of their secretariat,” Kabimba said.
Ministry of Information media director Thabo Kawana has accused the PF of arrogance in that this matter started in April 2021 when they were still in power and now they are running around like “headless chickens” accusing other people.
Speaking to that observation, Kabimba said he does not like debating non-issues, saying “this issue of dubbing people, no this one is UPND, this one is PF, you only do that if you have complied with the law.”
“If you have complied with the law like we did ourselves for example as Economic Front and then the Registrar of Societies comes back to us and says okay, I have received but I am not satisfied with this and this and we meet those specifications, and some of those things are about dialogue. You can ask for a meeting with the Registrar of Societies because you see sometimes kukamba pa paper chi Zungu chivuta sometimes,” said Kabimba. “…You can’t confuse the law with politics. First comply with the law and if you see that the officer is being unreasonable then you can go out to the public and say no this is politics … I don’t know why we always want to politicise non-political issues.”
