My constituency would have a new face by now if PF had remained in power, claims Kabushi member of parliament Bowman Lusambo has said.
Speaking when he featured on Parliament TV programme dubbed: “MP’s Diary” on Tuesday, Lusambo said the PF administration had embarked on the construction of township roads, which were due for completion between 2020 and 2021, but the said projects were temporarily halted owing to the change in procurement procedures under the UPND administration.
“The Patriot Front had its own way of doing things. We had a programme of constructing township roads between the year 2019 and 2021. But with the change of government there were some changes in the procurement procedures. And that has created a gap in the implementation of road projects. The UPND administration has its way of doing things. But had the Patriot Front remained in government, Kabushi would have a new face by now,” said Lusambo.
The Kabushi lawmaker also attributed the high crime rate in his constituency to the high unemployment levels.
“This is not just about Kabushi constituency, it’s a national issue. And working with the Executive, I think we need to find a solution to this problem. But at constituency level, we want to encourage people to acquire skills training so that they can also create jobs for the youths in the constituency,” he said.
Lusambo said that he has a hard working team of civic leaders that dedicated to accelerating development in the constituency.
The Kabushi member of parliament explained that, working with development stakeholders, the construction of a police post is underway in Mukuba area and another one in Kansenshi Extension, upgrading of Masala clinic to a first level hospital; among other projects.
“We have eight wards in Kabushi constituency with eight councillors and we are from the Patriot Front. Of course there are our colleagues from other political parties with progressive ideas that are passionate about seeing development in Kabushi constituency. We have a hard working team that is dedicated to the implementation of development projects in the constituency,” explained Lusambo. “The police stations that I have talked about are meant to curb criminal activities in the constituency. The police station being constructed in Mukuba area will be commissioned in three months time. The upgrading of Masala clinic to a first level hospital is on the card. There are so many other projects that we are working on. So, we are bulldozing… we are working. We are on course.”
