Chishimba Kambwili has called out Malambo Haimbe’s bluff, saying they have been caught pants down as what the people want to hear is if Milingo Lungu met President Hakainde Hichilema or not and not about this and that policy.
And Kambwili says Vice-President Mutale Nalumango has abused her office and that she and her husband must pay ZNBC for the live-coverage of their Church meeting, warning that failure to do so would lead them to pay the money with interest when a new government takes over.
Reacting to Justice minister Mulambe Haimbe’s claim that it was not the policy of the new administration for the President to meet and negotiate the with any person that is in conflict with the law for purposes of subverting the course of justice, Kambwili said rather than bluffing about this and that policy, Haimbe must tell the nation whether Lungu met President Hichilema, Vice-President Nalumango, Attorney General, Solicitor General, Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) and the other officials he claimed he met, where he said he was promised immunity from prosecution in the event he stepped down as provisional liquidator for KCM.
Kambwili said now that he has been given full information, he was apologising and reversing his earlier criticism of DPP Siyuni, saying even he was shocked initially when he heard that she was stopping an investigation, when the matter went beyond that.
He said after accessing the full information, Siyuni has come out as the only person with integrity in the whole saga as she was merely undertaking what had been agreed upon.
“What they need to tell us, did that meeting take place or not? If the meeting took place with officials from State House and the Attorney General and Solicitor General, who sent them? Who gave them authority to do that? Because I don’t think Milingo Lungu can just wake up and create a story. You remember I was shocked that the DPP had talked about investigations. It clearly shows that that was agreed,” Kambwili said. “It’s the question of being caught pants down. It’s a question of being caught Lang’s down. And keeping up appearances or doing damage control will not help. In any case there is a court matter so we will hear the evidence.”
Kambwili said it was clear from Haimbe’s statement that they were trying to shift their wrong doing to Siyuni, saying Zambians must see through the bluff and demand accountability.
“That’s what I can deduce. It’s clear that people want to run away and say it’s the DPP who did whatever. But what is just disappointing is that somebody is told to do something then you rise using your cadres and everybody that DPP must resign, when you know for sure that there were discussions behind closed doors. Very disappointing. So what we want to hear as Zambians is did the meeting take place or not? That’s the most important thing. Deny or accept whether there was a meeting that’s what we want to know,” Kambwili said.
And Kambwili has described the live-coverage of the Easter Passover conference at Vice-President Nalumango’s husband’s Oasis of Blessing Ministry as abuse of office, saying that was a private function.
He dismissed the argument by ZNBC director general Malolela Lusambo that the state broadcaster was obliged to cover the Vice-President even at her husband’s Church because she was the second in command, demanding that ZNBC must instead apologise to the public.
“Tell them that Chishimba Kambwili is says he should pay. If you don’t pay when government changes you will come and pay with interest. The husband must pay. That Church must pay, they will come and pay with interest. Just the way they are following up PF for the mistakes that they made they will also be followed up. Simple as that. There is not justification for that. They must pay. ZNBC does not do things for free. Only government functions. Government functions and strictly government functions. That’s not a government function,” argued Kambwili. “The church must be given a bill to pay. There is no two ways about it. If Nalumango is refusing, she abused her authority. She must pay. The Zambian people need their money. ZNBC is for the Zambian people it’s not for a particular Church.”
