KAPAMBWE REBUFFS PS OFFER

By Staff Reporter

Zambia’s Ambassador to the United States Lazarous Kapambwe has refused offers to take up an appointment as permanent secretary in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, saying he would rather settle as a private citizen.

Well placed sources in the UPND administration have told Daily Revelation that Amb Kapambwe has accepted his recall from the foreign missions but will not take up any offers to serve as permanent secretary.

“He was actually informed by Foreign Affairs minister Stanley Kakubo that he was being recalled but there was an offer to come and serve as permanent secretary in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in charge of administration, as there are attempts to move the current PS Chembo Mbula following some inadequacies that have been observed,” sources told Daily Revelation Media. “But Amb Kapambwe says he is not interested in taking up the position, saying he was permanent secretary before many years ago in that Ministry and cannot go back to the same position he held. He has also argued that the current PS in charge of administration Isabelle Lemba was recruited by him. He has not refused to come back but that he would rather come back as a private citizen.”

Sources say deficiencies have been noted in the first time PS appointee Mbula and the administration wants to bring in an experienced head to steer the ship.

Calls to Foreign Affairs minister Kakubo’s Mobile phone went unanswered.
