Ex-Chipolopolo striker Rotson Kilambe says this Sunday’s Kitwe derby between Nkana and his former club Power Dynamos will be a very tight affair.
Nkana will host Power at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium in Ndola in the final leg installment of the Kitwe derby for the 2024/2025 FAZ Super League season.
The match is likely to decide Power’s destiny as 2024/2025 league champions while a victory for third-placed Nkana could give them a slender chance of finishing second.
Kilambe said in an interview that this weekend’s Kitwe derby will be very intriguing because of the high stakes of the outcome of the fixture.
“As usual with derbies, it will be a 50-50 game but Power has an upper hand in the game,” Kilambe said.
“I say so because Power are hungry to win the title in this game and technically have a better side. Don’t also forget that Power are now unbeaten in their last 12 games. But Nkana has a very good team with players like Idris Mbombo, Harrison Chishala, and Jacob Ngulube so it will be exciting.
“But it will not be an easy game for either team. I just can’t predict the winner this weekend.”
Nkana won the first leg of the Kitwe derby played on December 7, 2024, at Levy where they beat Power 2-1.
The pressure is also on Power coach Osward Mutapa who is seeking his debut derby win after losing both his first two fixtures since his appointment in January 2024.
However, Nkana coach Mwenya Chipepo has never lost a Kitwe derby after winning two as Power coach and his third came at the helm of Nkana.
Meanwhile, with three games left to play, Power lead the table with 63 points, Zesco are second with 57 points and Nkana are number three with 54 points.
