Kokoliko Radio station in Chingola has announced reduced working hours due to loadshedding.
In a statement, Kokoliko Radio station director Charles Mubonda stated that the continuous loadshedding had impacted their operations forcing them to reduce operating hours.
Mubonde stated that the measure was to strive to conserve fuel and manage operational costs in these challenging economic conditions.
“We are announcing reduced operating hours amid ongoing loadshedding crisis. In light of the continuous loadshedding impacting our operations, Kokoliko Radio has made the difficult decision to adjust our broadcasting hours. Effective immediately, our station will operate from 05:00 hours to 22:00 daily,” he stated.
Mubonde stated that these changes may affect the station’s audience, but this was to secure the station’s financial stability and protect the livelihoods of dedicated employees.
“This measure is crucial as we strive to conserve fuel for our generator. The ongoing energy crisis has compelled us to reevaluate our practices to ensure we can continue to serve our listeners and maintain our commitment to quality broadcasting,” stated Mubonde. “We understand that these changes may affect our audience’s listening habits, and we sincerely apologise for any inconvenience this may cause. By reducing our operating hours, we aim to prevent job losses and safeguard the future of our team during these uncertain times.”
Mubonde stated that the station was exploring alternative solutions and remained hopeful for improvements in energy supply and the broader economic landscape.
