Time for politicking is over, we need to work with the government of the day, says losing PF Kapiri Mposhi mayoral candidate Brian Nkolola.
Speaking with Daily Revelation, Nkolola explained that he supports developmental ideas that benefit the “residents of Kapiri Mposhi constituency.”
In Kapiri Mposhi, the PF members that are allegedly planning to cross to the UPND are PF vice district chairman Godfrey Kangwa and Nkolola, among others.
Commenting on the same, Nkolola argued that he is a PF member, stressing that the fact that he is supporting “some of progressive ideas” by the ruling UPND does not mean that he has resigned from the PF.
“Abo abalelanda ati Nkolola nacita defect, fyabo (Those that are saying that Nkolola has defected, it’s their own issue). Time for politicking is over. We need to concentrate on developmental issues. Politics aside, we need to work with the government of the day. I have not defected and I will not resign from the Patriot Front,” Nkolola who lost by 4000 votes after he obtained 25000 plus against his UPND opponent and current Council Chairperson who amassed 29000 plus. “And I will keep on providing effective checks and balances to the UPND. We have to continue keeping them on their toes and ensure that they deliver on their campaign promises.”
There have been some speculations that following the PF’s defeat in last year’s general election, most party members are contemplating quitting the PF, arguing that the former ruling party might not bounce back to power despite the party leadership assuring that the Patriot Front is undergoing some “rebranding.”
Nkolola urged the Church to work closely with the government of the day.
Nkolola, who is immediate past Kapiri Mposhi district youth chairman, noted that the Church has a long history of supplementing government’s efforts to deliver social and economic development.
“And I would like to appeal to the Church to pray for political leadership. I the same vein, I would urge the Church to work with the government of the day so that we accelerate development,” said Nkolola.
Nkolola further urged the Church to preach peace, saying there could be no peace without the Church.
“Where there is no Church, there will be no peace. And where there is no prayer, there will be no harmony,” added Nkolola.
