Member of parliament for Mbabala (UPND) Joseph Munsanje says former president Edgar Lungu and his wife are crying the loudest just over a “small summoning”, when First Lady Mutinta faced over 100 police officers and never shed a tear.
Speaking with Daily Revelation on president Lungu’s statement that the UPND wanted to kill his political activity out of fear that he can still influence decisions, and saying he was ready to have his immunity lifted for prosecution, Munsanje said the UPND was not worried of Lungu, saying they were busy rebuilding the country “which he destroyed.”
He urged president Lungu to deal with his issues and not drag the UPND into his matters as the country operated on the basis of laws, which he said were very clear.
“And the person who was summoned is his wife. So as to why he wants to drag the UPND into the summoning of his wife that’s a very small matter. Mrs Hichilema was facing proper persecution. She faced over 100 police officers sent by Lungu and she never cried out,” Munsanje said. “Now a small summoning by DEC makes them cry so much, so loudly before they even set foot in any law enforcement agency office to discuss any matter. They start crying the loudest. They should just go and clear themselves. They used to tell us that the law will visit anybody.”
Munsanje said former Home Affairs minister Stephen Kampyongo was in many videos heard telling the country that the law is the law, and that everybody can face it.
He said nobody was above the law, and therefore law enforcement agencies must be respected when they summon individuals.
But Munsanje said he would not talk about president Lungu’s challenge to have his immunity lifted as there was no case against him before parliament right now.
“We should not prosecute people when there is no case,” said Munsanje.
