LUNGU HAS BEEN VINDICATED OVER KAJOBA’S DISMISSAL, SAYS NG’OMA

By Isaac Zulu

Political scientist Dr Alex Ng’oma has said that President Hakainde Hichilema should dismiss underperforming Cabinet Ministers.

Dr Ng’oma says President Hichilema is shooting himself in the foot by keeping Ministers that are not helping his government to perform.

“The Zambian people know that we have some underperforming Cabinet Ministers, but are wondering why President Hakainde Hichilema is keeping them in offices. I think the President is making a terrible mistake by keeping Ministers that are not helping his government to perform and deliver to the expectations of the Zambian people,” Dr Ng’oma said in an interview. “President Hakainde Hichilema is shooting himself in the foot by keeping Ministers in offices who are underperforming because at the end of the day, he is the one that will suffer the blame.”

He urged President Hichilema to assemble a team that is functional and help the UPND government deliver on its campaign promises.

“The President has a mammoth task of ensuring that the UPND government delivers on its campaign promises. And it is only prudent that he assembles a winning team that will tick and very functional. I think that President Hichilema should reflect on that,” Dr Ng’oma said.

And Dr Ng’oma said that the firing of Lemmy Kajoba as Inspector General of Police has vindicated former president Edgar Lungu who relieved him off his duties when he was the Head of State.

He explained that Edgar Lungu had noticed that Kajoba was not suitable to serve as Inspector General of Police and that is why he decided to do away with him, but President Hichilema thought the man was just being victimised.

“The firing of Lemmy Kajoba as Inspector General of Police vindicates Edgar Lungu because he is the one who first saw that Kajoba was not suitable for the job and decided to do away with him. However, President Hakainde Hichilema thought that Kajoba was victimised and gave him a chance to come and serve as Inspector General of Police. But President Hakainde Hichilema has now come to a conclusion that Kajoba is not suitable for that position. And that vindicates Edgar Lungu,” said Dr Ng’oma.
