A-thirthy three year old man of Ndola has been arrested for stabbing his young brother to death after discovering that he had been left out on his father’s will.
Muneti Sibande, 28, of Kansenshi was murdered by his elder brother Telemu Sibande on April 5, 2025.
According to Copperbelt Province police commanding officer Pathias Siandenge, the two brothers were sleeping in the servants’ quarters when the quarrel started.
Siandenge stated that Telemu first went to his father’s bedroom window to question why he had not been included on the will.
He stated that after sometime, Muneti also approached the window to complain about his brother’s harassment.
“His father told the now deceased to ignore his brother and go to sleep. A short while later, their father heard the deceased shouting for help and running towards the gate that he had been stabbed by his elder brother,” he stated.
Siandenge stated that the duo’s father didn’t bother to go out and find out what was happening because the two were in the habit of fighting each other.
“After few minutes, a neighbour informed the father that Muneti is lying unconscious on the road near the gate.
The father quickly went out of his house and rushed the victim to Ndola Teaching Hospital where he was pronounced dead,” he stated.
He stated that the victim sustained a deep cut on the left side of the chest as a knife was suspected to have been used in the act.
He stated that police visited the scene of crime and a knife which was used to murder the deceased was later discovered in the grass near the door to the servants quarter where the two were sleeping.
“The suspect, Telema Sibande has been detained in custody for the subject offence of murder while the body for the deceased is lying in Ndola Teaching Hospital mortuary awaiting postmortem,” stated Siandenge.
