Milenge Town Council has distributed over K2 million under Constituency Development fund (CDF) to 178 cooperatives and clubs in all the fifteen wards of Milenge Constituency.
According to a statement issued by the Council’s public relations officer John Sakala, the handover was presided by deputy permanent secretary for Luapula Province Prudence Chinama, who distributed on behalf of the permanent secretary.
“Milenge Town Council marks the significant distribution of grants totalling K 2,238, 308.79 to 178 coorporatives clubs groups across all fifteen wards of the Milenge Constituency. The official handover of the 2024 constituency development Fund Empowerment Grants presided over by esteemed deputy permanent secretary madam Prudence Chinama on behalf of the Permanent secretary -Luapula,” Sakala stated.
Chinama stated that the applicants were meticulously evaluated by the Constituency Development Fund Committee before selecting the 178 applicants who were successful.
“The Constituency Development Fund Committee has meticulously evaluated applications from all fifteen wards, recommending 178 applicants for the grant. Although some did not meet the criteria due to incomplete applications, however, remains transparent and fair adhering strictly to CDF guidelines. She urged civic leaders and technocrats to assist cooperatives in future applications to ensure more groups benefit from such empowerment initiatives,” Sakala stated.
“She also provided guidance on the prudent utilisation of the funds, stressing that the grants should serve as start-up capital for various programs and activities as outlined in their business proposals.
