Lumezi member of Parliament Munir Zulu yesterday caused laughter in Parliament when he said the Minister of Technology and Science Felix Mutati used independent members of parliament to seek president Hakainde Hichilema’s audience when he was appointed as minister.
Zulu said “balitubomfya saana ba mudala aba as independents (He used us a lot this man)” during questions for oral answers when he wanted to ask a supplementary question to Mutati who was acting as Education minister.
When Speaker of the National Assembly Nelly Mutti asked him to explain what he meant, he explained that Mutati used independent candidates when he wanted to meet President Hichilema and never got back to them.
“Thank you madam Speaker for giving the people of Lumezi to ask the honourable minister, I emphasise on this particular one, balitubomfya saana ba mudala aba. Madam Speaker, he used us as independents at some time when going to meet the Republican President and never got back to the independents so this is an opportunity for me. What happened is that he took us there, he became a minister himself,” he said.
And Mutti jokingly asked Zulu if he was ready to work with the ruling party.
“Is that a complaint, are you now willing to work with the people on my right? Because even yesterday, the honourable was saying we are ready to be ministers, today he’s saying he has never been taken so if you are willing you can discuss with the other side, they will take you,” said Mutti.
