Zambia women’s national team assistant coach Florence Mwila is away in Liberia undertaking a CAF A Coaching course.
Mwila’s CAF A Coaching course is the first of modules divided into four weeklong segments with the other three to be conducted in February, April and July 2025.
The Football Association of Zambia said in a statement that the first phase is currently running from December 14 to 21 in Liberia’s capital Monrovia at the National Sports Stadium.
“Copper Queens assistant coach Florence Mwila has been awarded a FIFA scholarship to pursue a CAF A Diploma Coaching course,” FAZ stated.
“The opportunity is part of the FIFA Women’s Development Programme under the Coach Education Scholarship initiative.
“Mwila is currently in Liberia’s capital, Monrovia, where the Liberia Football Association (LFA) is conducting the coaching course for the first time in 10 years. “
She is part of four foreign coaches in a class of 17 other football trainers undertaking the CAF A Coaching course.
“The collaboration between FIFA and the Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) aligns with the Association’s goals of developing women’s football in Zambia by providing advanced coaching opportunities to increase girls’ and women’s access to the beautiful game,” FAZ stated.
Mwila’s enrollment comes less than two months after she led the senior Zambia womens national team to victory in the 2024 COSAFA Women’s Cup final on November 2 in Port Elizabeth, where they beat hosts South Africa 4-3 on post-match penalties following a scoreless result after extra time.
