The FAZ disciplinary committee has ruled that must Nkana fix damages made at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium in Ndola by their fans during the Kitwe derby within 40 days or will be demoted to FAZ Division 1 Copperbelt.
The ruling is part of a litany of fines and suspensions on Nkana following verdicts ratified on April 30 by the FAZ disciplinary committee chaired by Mukumba Mulele with members Mukwashi Banda, Fabian Mayondi and Musonda Chibulu.
“We invoke Article 29 of the FAZ Disciplinary Committee Code 2021 edition and order the demotion of Nkana FC to the provincial league of the Copperbelt Province, and during the subsisting demotion should play its home games in terms of Article 24: playing without spectators, that is, behind closed doors,” the verdict read in part.
“This order of demotion to the Copperbelt Provincial League pursuant to Article 29 shall be read both Article 33(3)(5) of the FAZ Disciplinary Code 2021 by way of partial implementation of the sanction, which shall only be automatically revoked and be applicable after 45 days upon the failure to repair the damaged property to the extent of the quantified valuation subject to the confirmation of our scene visit, which shall be done immediately upon the expiration of the sanction 45 days.”
The FAZ Disciplinary Committee stated that the inspection team to assess and evaluate the repairs at Levy Stadium shall also include representatives from the Engineering Institution of Zambia, Ministry of Sport and FAZ.
Another highlight of the verdict sees Nkana fined US$100,000.00 for damage caused by their fans to Levy Mwanawasa Stadium.
The fine is binding and non-refundable.
Two Nkana players have also been banned by the FAZ Disciplinary Committee.
Striker Idris Mbombo and defender Clement Mwape are the players sanctioned .
The duo allegedly damaged the door lock to the Levy Stadium referees’ dressing room in a post-match incident after the same Kitwe derby at the Ndola football venue.
