Patrick Phiri has described Nkana’s early surge under new coach Mwenya Chipepo as promising.
Chipepo has made a roaring start to his two-year contract as Nkana coach with back-to-back 3-1 victories so far in as many games in charge.
Ex-Nkana coach Phiri said in an interview that it was uplifting to see the light at the end of the tunnel.
“There is a big light at the end of the tunnel. If only we can maintain the momentum then everything will be fine,” Phiri said.
Nkana last Saturday beat defending FAZ Super League champions Red Arrows 3-1 at home in Kitwe.
That result came a week after Nkana won 3-1 away at mighty Mufulira Wanderers on October 26 barely hours after Chipepo was unveiled to replace Ian Bakala who was fired on October 5.
Bakala had started the season with one win, three draws and three losses of which two successive defeats against Green Eagles and topflight debutants Atletico Lusaka ended his one year on the job.
Meanwhile, Chipepo’s promising start sees the six points collected under him lift Nkana out of the relegation zone and are now at number 10 on 13 points, eight points behind leaders Zesco United and six points adrift of second positioned Power Dynamos.
