Professor Nkandu Luo has threatened to assault Chishimba Kambwili and his supporters, and further launched attacks on former PF secretary general Davies Mwila and his deputy Mumbi Phiri, including Lusaka provincial chairperson Kennedy Kamba.
And Prof Luo said Kambwili and Geoffrey Bwalya Mwamba (GBM) damaged the PF extensively by making it possible for President Hakainde Hichilema to find acceptability in Bemba land, and they were even teaching him how to speak Bemba.
But Kambwili said Prof Luo should be held responsible if anything bad were to happen to him.
In a recorded phone conversation with another PF member and accessed by Daily Revelation Media, Prof Luo said Kambwili’s supporters were not insulting her and former Lands minister Jean Kapata because of Kambwili, but because the two stopped moves by Davies Mwila and Kennedy Kamba to allocate plots to PF cadres on the proposed site where the nuclear facility were to be constructed.
She said she was disappointed that the same Kambwili who was pleading with her in the night to speak to former president Edgar Lungu to pardon him from his cases as he feared going to jail was today being ungrateful towards her.
“Today ba Kambwili should send a viral note against me. Awee. It’s not right,” Prof Luo said, saying the damage Kambwili has done to her, Kapata and Given Lubinda was too much, and that she would never greet Kambwili if she were to meet him. “Never! Kubapitafye.”
She said “that is why you hear that someone has gotten a gun to shoot another person,” saying “pantu I don’t know ilyo nkamona uyo (I don’t know what I will do when I meet) papa Gunase (PF Kanyama ward chairman Kelvin Mwaba) face to face, I don’t know what I will do. Maybe you will hear that I am in Chimbokaila (prison).”
She said she was upset “nga kaifyala”, saying those who understood Bemba knew how deep that word was associated with anger.
“I do not want to see Monta (PF official in Munali) I do not want to see papa Gunase because if I will see them, definitely I will go in for assault,” Prof Luo said. “Naba Kambwili filya Jean abetile amenshi fyachepa. Ilyo nkabamonafye ba Kambwili. (Even Kambwili, what Kapata did to him by pouring water on him will seem like child’s play if I meet him).”
Prof Luo told the person she was conversing with that for those who joined PF later on, Kambwili never received Kapata to PF as she was one of the founder members of the party.
“That information those boys are given are coming from Chishimba Kambwili. Even the insulting that is going on right now is coming from him and then he wants to pretend and say iyo ine nshalandepo,” Prof Luo said. “And me as Nkandu Lou I was never received by Chishimba Kambwili or anybody. In fact if you read the history of PF, the people that were there in the beginning niba Lumbi, ni Guy Scott, Lifwekelo. Ba Mpankata became the first member of parliament elo bonse twala joina, all of us, people like me. Jean joined earlier than I did. Ifwe we joined by forming Kola Foundation if you recall. Even the first money ishafumishe ba Sata mu prison, Kamwala prison it is us who raised it.”
She wondered why “ba Kambwili should pretend that he knows more about PF than any of us and he should insult us because ebene ba PF, naba Michael Sata.”
Prof Luo said even the Sylvia Chalikosa they were insulting was Sata’s niece, as before Sata called all his relatives (herself), Chalikosa was the first to join him and was traveling with him, wondering why Kambwili should be insulting Chalikosa.
She said the only unfortunate part was that Chalikosa does not talk, adding “at least I and Jean talk.”
“All these insults are being organized in Lusaka because ba Lusaka wanted to share land where we were to build the nuclear center and I happened to have been the minister of Higher Education. Then Jean Kapata was minister of Lands. The President had signed an agreement with Russia to build that nuclear Centre if you read and recall,” Prof Luo said. “But I stood and told the President to say ‘that land you will be embarrassed when Putin comes here. Do you know that the secretariat has been organizing that land for the people in Lusaka Province?’ That’s why you hear them insult us that we don’t like structures. Kamba is the one who was at the helm of it.
“I went to collect the papers from the secretary general’s office ba Mwila and they had divided the whole plots all the constituencies of Lusaka…so the president directed ba Katambo to go and stop the construction, directed the minister of Lands to stop all that. Me I am the one who reported. Now because Jean acted as the president had directed naba Katambo, we were hated.”
Prof Luo continued.
“In fact the SG organised a meeting with all the structures to beat us, I and Jean. Twapuswike kwempe. They organized all the elections, these intra party elections and I think if you are really PF you know what happened. These guys who are insulting us, this is ba Chishimba working with the former SG, working with bene Kamba,” Prof Luo said. “They organised the intra party elections to make sure that we should not even be in the central committee. That’s why they are insulting the central committee, it’s not the whole central committee. It’s because they expected me, Jean Kapata and Given Lubinda not to be in the central committee. And if you have listened to the Papa Gunase’s insults on us, we don’t even know how that chap looks like. At least with Monta he lives in Munali.”
She said she passed the chance to contest as member of parliament for Munali in 2006 to Mumbi Phiri, saying she told Sata at the time that there was no money in government, but would want to continue operating outside as a technocrat, saying she suggested Phiri to stand instead.
“Mumbi nafwebamukusha nifwe, my elder sister brought that child up. She didn’t have a penny I raised the money for her. Today she should organise people to be insulting me. That’s why honourable Kapata reacted the way she did (telling Kambwili and Gunase chika**a chakwe). Ukulatuka bamayo abamufyala,” Prof Luo said. “And we have reported this actually, it’s just that the police now don’t act for PF. And we are still pursuing this. We want those boys, Monta na Papa Gunase arrested. We don’t care even if they are PF. And the new insults from him, nasho tuleshitwala to report.”
Prof Luo argued that running the party required money, wondering where “these boys” would get the money from, saying that would be the end of the party as even Kambwili himself failed to contribute towards recent elections in Kabwata and Kaumbwe.
“Baile ukupumbumanikako ichimutwe (He simply went to show his big head there). That’s all. And the politics of bumposa mabwe ended with UNIP,” she said.
She said the same Kambwili people supported destroyed PF, saying he went to tell President Hichilema that the PF were thieves.
“Ba Chishimba made PF lose first and foremost. They are the ones naba GBM ababulile na UPND baitwala ku Northern to convince the Bembas ukutila this is a good man. They even started teaching him Bemba,” Prof Luo said.
she said she had told those who support Kambwili that she could never support him because she was an intellectual who looks at things in an analytical manner and “that’s why Jean Kapata and I are different, we are from the health field.”
“And we are not going to be part and parcel of the nonsense that is not going to take this country forward. We have people with the intellectual ability who are ready to be advised, who are going to stand on the podium and analyze things,” Prof Luo said.
She said she told Gunase after “he had been sent by Kambwili to call her to hear who she supported”, that he is the same one who destroyed PF.
“If you choose Kambwili some of us will leave even PF because it means we won’t go anywhere with PF,” Prof Luo said. “I can’t support Kambwili. And I am very principled, the damage he has done first of all to start with is too much. The party is carrying this bad name, the name of corruption because of him. The damage he has done kuli ba Edgar Lungu while the other people are clapping, there is just a publication that has come out that he has just been cited the man if 2021.”
She said people were intact but Kambwili will destroy the party.
“A normal Zambian cannot vote for Kambwili,” Prof Luo said, echoing the voice of someone who was speaking in the background, whose voice sounded like that of Kapata.
She challenged Kambwili’s supporters to show her even one chief who was supporting him, as all the chiefs were close to her because she knew them having served as “a good minister to them”, saying some were even asking her why they had brought back Kambwili into the party during the election campaigns.
She warned Kambwili to avoid greeting her because she does not know how she will react if he were to do so.
She further unleashed on Phiri and Kamba.
“I have been insulted for the last 10 years, starting from Mumbi Phiri. And that is a child we raised in our home. Even her marriage came from my home. Even for her to be MP is because I campaigned for her and raised money for her. I actually wrote the application letter for her to become a member of parliament. I passed on that,” Prof Luo said. “That Kamba lived by selling beer at COMESA market.”
She vowed to ensure that Gunase and Monta were arrested by police, warning that they should better read the maximum sentence under the cyber crime act.
But in another voice note, Kambwili said Luo did not know the history of PF, as he was the first person to approach president Sata after he was left out on the MMD presidency, saying after he failed to convince him initially, Sata’s wife Dr Christine Kaseba urged him to speak to his close friend Paul Lumbi.
“When I went to Lumbi, Lumbi suggested that we include Chipili and ba Chipili also suggested the inclusion of Lifwekelo. That’s how we sat with Sata to form PF. If you don’t know the history of PF stop lying,” Kambwili said. “Ba Chalikosa yes she’s the niece but she came after we had already done the job. Uyo Mpankata who adopted him? So stop lying that Kambwili joined PF later on after Mpankata had joined. It was my idea to say let’s form PF when Sata was left out for the MMD presidency. Stop lying my elder sister. I respect you a lot and I don’t want to have a problem with you.”
He argued that he did not engage in politics of insults, saying if people like Gunase insulted her she must report the matter to the police and he would not defend them.
“Such hatred is bad where you even go to the extent of saying that is why people draw guns. If I died today madam Luo, and if someone were to shoot me then it is you, because you have said so. I have not wronged you in any way. You say it is not Kambwili who received me. Now who received you? Because when you would come for rallies you would sit further aside, but we would ask you to draw near until you came near,” said Kambwili. “And it’s not you who asked Sata to give Mumbi the MPship. Sata came to the Kola foundation and he found Mumbi alechita ifyabukaka and when he came back he told us that he had found akakaka akena Chinsali, ‘we are going to give her Munali.’ It’s not you madam Luo stop lying.
“You don’t know the history. Guy Scott was not there, he joined us two years later as he was in Lima party with Kapita. Don’t lie over things you don’t know. Ala insoni ebuntu.”
