Chifubu member of parliament (UPND) Lloyd Lubozha has wondered what business can survive in two hours, which has been allocated as operating hours to bars and taverns in the new Covid-19 measures.
Contributing to debate on the ministerial statement by Health minister Sylvia Masebo, Lubozha attacked the two hours allocated for the bars, saying the people he represented were complaining.
“Honestly, madam honourable minister of health, what business can people do in two hours?…Can they pay rentals and support workers…two hours is not enough. Increase the time,” said Lubozha. “They (business owners) can die from Covid or die from hunger (on account of the few hours given to them).”
But Masebo said even the Church has complained about the one hour given to them while more hours have been given to bars in a Christian nation.
She said the government was still listening, wondering how long it should take for one to get drunk, over those complaining about the two hours allocated to bars.
