No need to panic over Zesco’s dwindling lead – Coach

By Mubukwanu Kaingu

Zesco United coach Emmanuel Siwale believes there is nothing to panic about after seeing his team’s lead cut from five to two points over the last two games.

The FAZ Super Leagues leaders have set the pace since September but recent draws against Forest Rangers and Zanaco have seen the once modest lead dwindle with ten games played.

Siwale said in an interview that it was just a phase that had not gone without any serious notice from his bench.

“We just have to concentrate on ourselves because if we start looking at other teams we may lose focus. So ours is to work hard and continue collecting points,” Siwale said.

“I know we have dropped points but we have to work hard and cement our position.”

After ten games played, Zesco has 21 points, two more than second placed Power Dynamos with seven games left before the midway point of the 2024/2025 campaign.

Zesco are back in action away against third placed Green Buffaloes who have 18 points.

Siwale insists they will hold their own against a Buffaloes that has won its last two games and is unbeaten in three straight games.

“Before these two draws, we had some wins and I know even the game there (at Buffaloes) we can put up a good performance and collect maximum points. This is football,” said Siwale.
