ONLY KAMBWILI CAN TAKE “PRO-POOR” PF BACK TO POWER…but failures in PF are trying to stop him, says Charity Banda

Opposition PF Lusaka provincial chairlady Charity Banda says only Chishimba Kambwili can take the “pro-poor” PF back to power.

Speaking with Daily Revelation, Banda said they will fight for Kambwili to be PF leader in the same manner they fought for former president Edgar Lungu to become the leader following the death of president Michael Sata in 2014.

She said the same people who were telling president Lungu lies which cost the party power, were today fighting Kambwili so that he should not assume the leadership of PF.

“And to me he is the man of the moment. I am saying this because I come a long way with PF. It’s not about the money, just like the president said we are not going to sale this party to the highest bidder,” Banda said. “As Patriotic Front it’s a pro poor party and we believe in our ideologies. We know the person who will take us back into power. It’s only Chishimba Kambwili.”

But asked on assertions that Kambwili was a flip flopper whose position could not be counted on and that he was still facing court cases, Banda said those who were saying so did not understand the history of PF, and how Kambwili was expelled from the party in the first place.

“Those same people who fought him to leave PF in 2016, they are the same people who don’t want him today because them they are failures. I don’t want to mention anyone’s name,” Banda said. “They used to be our leaders, now we are in opposition. They have costed us this, and they were the people who were even telling the president other things. Let’s be straight and let’s tell the truth.”

Banda said she and the others could not speak out when Kambwili was expelled because they were still in leadership.

“I think from the time Kambwili left PF we remember very well what happened to him. Some of us were just dying inside because we were leaders. We said ‘oh this is what has happened?’” said Banda. “But my heart still told me he still belongs to PF. And there is nothing like changing goals, he doesn’t change goals. He’s just a straight forward person, just like the way ba Sata was.”
