Colonel Panji Kaunda reported the then Geoffrey Bwalya Mwamba led Ministry of Defence in 2012 to the Anti-Corruption Commission for what he deemed as abuse of office, when PF cadres were engaged into the Defence forces without following laid down procedure.
Ministry of Defence and ACC officials told Daily Revelation that some 10 years ago, then Defence deputy minister Col Panji Kaunda reported the Ministry of Defence to ACC over observations that the correct procedure in the recruitment for the training of cadets did not follow the correct official selection board.
“The records at the ACC show that Col Panji complained that people who did not appear on the selection board had been included and were already doing the training programme,” the insiders said. “The issue raised a lot of acrimony in the Ministry of Defence, forcing president Sata to transfer Panji from the GBM led Ministry to the Ministry of Works and Supply in the same capacity.”
Contacted for comment, Col Panji refused to comment on the matter saying he was engaged into other schedules in the civil service.
