Police in Chawama have arrested a 52-year-old man for defiling his 13-year -old stepdaughter, who is an imbecile.
In a statement, police spokesperson Rae Hamoonga stated that on November 8, 2023, around 07:00 hours, the mother of the victim left home, leaving her in the company of the step-father and her younger sister.
He stated that later, the younger sister stepped out to draw water at the neighbor’s house.
“Upon reaching home, she got the shock of her life after seeing her father having carnal knowledge with the victim. Immediately, she decided to call her mother and informed her about the incident,” read the statement in part. “The mother rushed home upon receiving the traumatizing news from her daughter. She later reported the matter to the police and a medical report was issued to the victim.”
Hamoonga stated that the police visited the scene of crime and secured the place for investigations while the suspect is in police custody waiting to appear in court.
In a related development, police in Kanyama have arrested a 25-year-old man for defiling a 13-year-old girl of Lusaka’s Kanyama Compound.
According to Hamoonga, on November 7, 2023, at around 18:00 hours, the victim who was in the company of a friend was sent to Masauko Market within Kanyama by her mother.
He explained that whilst there, they came across a group of male adults who were drinking beer at a named bar.
He stated that among the group was male Julius Kalola, 25 of the same compound, who decided to follow the girls behind and managed to get hold of the victim.
“He took her to his house and defiled her. Upon seeing that the friend was forcefully taken, the friend rushed home and reported to the victim’s mother about what had transpired. The victim’s mother rushed to the suspect’s house and decided to report the matter to the police who issued a medical report to the said victim,” Hamoonga stated. He stated that the police visited the scene of crime and managed to apprehend the suspect, who is now in custody waiting to appear in court.
