Police in Samfya have denied Citizens First from holding a public rally which was scheduled for tomorrow Saturday, citing lack of manpower.
In a letter addressed to the party dated August 6, 2024, Mansa district commanding officer in-charge Mujala Mweemba advised the party not to go ahead with the rally but rather choose another date in the near future.
“Refer to your application and notification by you on behalf of the Citizens First Party to have a rally in Samfya on 10th August 2024. Unlike the 20th July 2024 notification where we allowed you to go ahead and have your rally, I regret to inform you that we do not have enough manpower this time to police your event. I therefore, advise you not to go ahead with your rally on this date,” stated Mweemba.
But in an interview with Daily Revelation yesterday, Citizens First spokesperson Frank Sichone said the party is still engaging with the police to see to it that the rally went ahead.
“Yes it’s true, we have received the notification from the police citing lack of manpower but we have engaged them through our local leadership to see if we might still go ahead with the same rally. Although they were saying that we have to think of a different date which is basically just a way of running away from allowing us to have a rally. So, we are still engaging them to see to it that we go ahead with the rally this weekend,” said Sichone.
