Power Dynamos host Nkwazi today at Arthur Davies Stadium in Kitwe in a fixture that may just define their 2024/2025 FAZ Super League destiny.
With four games left heading into today’s week 30 fixtures, Power leads the log with 60 points, six points more than second-placed Zesco United.
A win for Power over Nkwazi and a defeat or draw for Zesco away to fourth-placed Kabwe Warriors will hand the Kitwe club their 8th league title.
Power coach Osward Mutapa will have his full-strength side back today after fielding a second-string side in Sunday’s 2025 ABSA Cup last 16 date against Air Power which his side won 3-1.
“The other 11 players had so much game. They played 2 games in 5 days and they needed a rest, “Mutapa said. “We are playing a game on Wednesday so we just can’t risk them. We want them to be fresh for Nkwazi where we want the result we so much need to put us in pole position for the championship.”
Some notables back after missing the ABSA Cup include goalkeeper Willard Mwanza, defenders John Soko and Kondwani Chiboni, midfielders Prince Mumba and Fredrick Mulambia, including the attack duo of Chifundo Mpasi and Ismael Ankobo.
Power, who are currently on an eleven-game unbeaten run and 10 successive league wins, best Nkwazi 3-1 in the first leg away in Lusaka.
It will be interesting to see what Nkwazi coach Aggrey Chiyangi has plotted during his free time without the pleasure of playing in the 2025 ABSA Cup with his fresh-legged team.
Meanwhile, second-positioned Zesco are on the road in Kabwe to face former title contenders Kabwe Warriors.
Zesco lost 2-0 at home to Warriors in the first leg in a victory on November 30 that was engineered by the latter’s ex-coach Mumamba Numba before he left for Zanaco in January.
