The body of a Zambian national, Sampa Mwenya, who died in China while pursuing studies will arrive in the country on Sunday.
Father to the deceased, Morgan Mwenya, has confirmed the development to Daily Revelation, saying the remains of his son will arrive at Kenneth Kaunda International Airport aboard an Ethiopian Airline at 14:30 hours on Sunday, June 26, 2022.
“I can confirm that we have received official communication from the government, through the ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, that the body of our late son Sampa Mwenya who died in China will arrive in Zambia at 14:30 hours Zambian time. And all things being equal burial will take place on Monday and Church service will be at Grace Ministries International Church in Kapiri Mposhi district,” explained Mwenya in an interview.
He thanked government for facilitating the repatriation of the body of his son.
“On behalf of the family and, indeed on my own behalf, I would like to pay profound gratitude to the government and the minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Honourable Stanley Kakubo, for facilitating the repatriation of my son’s remains. This will certainly ensure that we burry our beloved son in a dignified way,” said Mwenya. “I would also like to thank well-wishers, the Church and members of the public for being with us during this very trying time.”
