Oil Marketing Companies Association of Zambia (OMCAZ) president Dr Kafula Mubanga says Energy minister Peter Kapala has admitted that some oil companies are not happy due the manner things are being handled at the ministry.
And Dr Mubanga says the minister is aware that some South African companies which are not registered with Energy Regulation Board (ERB) are on the nominated list.
Dr Mubanga was reacting to the minister who said companies that failed to deliver were the ones which cried to Dr Mubanga.
“Already he is admitting that there are some companies that are not happy. It’s already an admission that what we are talking about is very factual. The Auditor General’s report is talking about the 51 billion missing out of the over pricing, it’s not OMCAZ generating that story. See, those companies we mentioned of South African origin are not registered with ERB, it’s factual. He knows that they are there,” he said.
Dr Mubanga further said the issues he raised were not personal but of national interest.
“So, those are issues that are very substantive in nature that one can obviously substantiate from. It’s not something that was picked out of the blues. Single source, it’s there. He has not confirmed whether he has run a tender, open tender or not. So those are facts that are on the ground. So, the issues around it are not personal, they are issues of national interest. So, I think that when he is responding, he must be able to address issues as we work,” said Dr Mubanga .
