Mansa mayor Njikho Musuku has welcome the official launch of the School Feeding Program by President Hakainde Hichilema
He said while the programme was launched in Lusaka, the feeding programme was the heartbeat of rural communities here in Luapula.
”Free education brought our children into the classroom, and this feeding program ensures they stay there and actually learn. You cannot teach a hungry child. By providing meals, we are finally providing the fuel for the education we have made free. By sourcing food locally, this homegrown model creates a sustainable value chain,” Musuku said. “It empowers our Mansa farmers with a guaranteed market, stimulating our rural economy while nourishing our future leaders. With classrooms now full, our challenge has shifted. To ensure the safe and hygienic feeding of our children, we urgently need to allocate more resources toward the creation of dignified spaces, modern kitchens, and clean dining areas.”
He said he challenge was on the leaders to commit to transparent and efficient rollout of these supplies.
”Parents and guardians are urged that, with fees gone and meals provided, there is no longer any reason for a child to stay home. The success of this program depends on our collective monitoring. No child in Mansa should be left behind due to hunger. Lastly, WE stand with President Hakainde Hichilema’s vision for Zambia. Now is the time for development, not politics,” said Musuku. “The President has demonstrated the right path forward, and we are committed to following that trajectory for the good of the nation.Anything good for Mansa and its people should be supported.”
