Losing mayoral candidate (PF) for Kapiri-Mposhi Brian Nkolola says members of parliament must heed President Hakainde Hichilema’s call for parliamentarians to visit their constituencies, saying even his own MP Stanley Kakubo must not use his busy schedule as Foreign Affairs minister as an excuse for failing to visit his constituency.

In a statement to Daily Revelation, Nkolola said position of minister of foreign affairs and international cooperation comes with busy schedules, but that should not be an excuse for him to be “an absentee members of parliament.”

“We are alive to the fact that the position of minister of foreign affairs is a very big position and comes with huge responsibilities. But that should not be an excuse for our area member of parliament Stanley Kakubo to stay away from the electorate in Kapiri Mposhi constituency,” Nkolola said. “I expect my brother Stanley Kakubo not to be an absentee MP on the basis of the busy ministerial position.”

Nkolola further implored the Kapiri Mposhi lawmaker to be consultative in the execution of his parliament duties.

“Being a person who was born and bred in Kapiri Mposhi district, I am personally ready to support my brother Honourable Stanley Kakubo so that he can bring the much needed development in the Constituency,” said Nkolola, who is also immediate past Patriot Front Kapiri Mposhi district youth chairman. “And I also want to put on record that I will continue providing checks and balances to the UPND government and our area member of parliament.”

He stated that the President’s call is timely and should be taken seriously, adding that this will allow parliamentarians to interact with the people in their respective Constituencies during Parliamentary recess and appreciate the challenges that the electorate are facing.
