Teacher murdered following marital dispute with hubby

A teacher at Linda West Secondary School in Livingstone has been murdered by her husband.

And neighbor to the couple has said they were in the habit of fighting following drinking sprees.

Southern Province deputy police commanding officer Moono Namalongo confirmed in a statement to Daily Revelation that the teacher identified as Mary Mulenga was murdered by her husband after a marital dispute.

“Livingstone Central Police Station received the report above from M/Obby Ganizani Tembo aged 55 of Hse No 506 Elaine Brittel area of Livingstone district also of cell number 0977 825923 a local businessman reported that his tenant M/Moono Nambuli aged 47 of the same address allegedly murdered his wife F/Mary Mulenga aged 43,” Namalango stated

Namalango stated that the incident occurred between 27/08/2025 and August 28,2025 around 19:40 hrs and 09:00 hrs respectively.

He stated that after the police received the report, they rushed to the scene, where they found Mulenga lying naked in a pool of blood with multiple cuts on the right side of the chest.

The police commissioner stated that the body has since been deposited in Livingstone Batoka mortuary awaiting postmortem examination.

“After the report was made, Police quickly rushed to the scene of crime where the report was verified. The body of the deceased was found laying in a pool of blood on the ground in the sitting room floor slightly facing upwards completely naked,” Namalango stated.

“A physical check on the body was conducted and multiple cuts on the right side of the chest, left arm and legs suspected a sharp object was used in the act.”

And the neighbor to the deceased Obby Tembo narrated to Daily Revelation that the couple was in the habit of fighting every time they came from a drinking spree.

Tembo said he did not hear the couple argue or fight but only learnt of the murder incident.

He said normally they heard noise whenever the couple fought and they would go and stop them.

“But in this particular incident, we didn’t hear any noise. They fight a lot, they fight a lot. When they just go for a drink, they will come back and start fighting,” Tembo said.

He said he was the one who reported the matter to the police after the father to suspect informed him of the incident.

“He asked me, ‘where are you?’ Then I answered that l was at the office. Then he said that ‘my son has killed his wife.’ I asked him, ‘are you sure?’ he answered yes. I asked him where his son was. He told me that they were together. He said, the son even asked for a K50 because he wanted to buy some medicine, because he was not well,” said Tembo. That is how l told the father to keep an eye on him, maybe he wanted money to buy poison to kill himself. After that, I went to the police, and reported the matter to the police. The father brought his son to the police.”
