Patriot Front member of central committee chairman for information and publicity Raphael Nakachinda has said that there is a syndicate among UPND ministers and party officials to be looting minerals in the country.
Nakachinda says the dismissal of Luapula Province Minister Derrick Chilundika and his subsequent arrest for allegedly engaging in illegal mining of sugilite only shows that “there is rampant looting of minerals by serving ministers and party officials in the UPND.”
He said there is more than an eye can see to the illegal mining activities by those serving in the UPND administration.
“There is a syndicate where Ministers appointed by President Hakainde Hichilema and UPND officials are engaging in the looting of minerals,” Nakachinda said. “They are busy looting minerals at the expence of majority Zambians. There is rampant illegal mining activities being perpetuated by the UPND officials.”
Nakachinda urged law enforcement agencies to be diligent and professional and bring all culprits to book.
“That is a manifestation of what is happening in the UPND administration under the carpet. There is more than an eye can see. And we expect investigating agencies to be diligent and professional so that all the people involved this syndicate are brought to book,” said Nakachinda.
