Things are not well in Zambia, says paramount chief of the Ngoni people of Eastern Province, Mpezeni.
Speaking with Daily Revelation, Mpezeni said despite the challenges for paramount chiefs meeting now, it would be welcome for all of them to meet now so that they could sit politicians down as they were constantly at log [pp-logged-users] gerheads with each other and exchanging insults.
“These are old people, but they are making us feel embarrassed as if there are no elders around. I would love for us the elders, we the paramount chiefs to call these politicians and sit them down. this pulling each other and insulting each other doesn’t auger well,” Mpezeni said. “It’s not just President Hakainde Hichilema and president Edgar Lungu that we need to call, we need to call all the politicians to talk to them properly.”
He urged those in the UPND administration to take the lead by calling on the paramount chiefs for dialogue.
“Nupempa kuli beve a boma kuti ati ite kuti tikaonane nao (I am asking for those in government to call on us, we the paramount chiefs, so that we can sit down with all the politicians), to talk to them properly,” Mpezeni said.
Asked on his view with regards how matters were going about in the country, Mpezeni said: “Vintu sivili bwino. kaili ndeo imabwela ngati beka beka bayambana. Mwaona (Things are not well. Because these fighting starts when these politicians are quarreling among themselves, you see! Because supporters of these parties, they are the ones who cause all this. But we need to tell these leaders that it is not right to live like this. Ndeo siyabwino. Don’t live the way they live in other countries. You know that Zambia is a Christian country, right? We need to meet as soon as possible when the political environment is like this.”[/pp-logged-users]
